Outrageously Dumb Campus Moments of the Week (Oct. 12)

The College Fix presents a roundup of the top scandals, screw-ups, and stupid decisions involving college campuses this week. This week, a Christian university bans a conservative club (you read that right), and research reveals that most of the good folks overseeing California’s universities are Democrat backers (that explains a lot), but first …

3) This one takes the cake. Hands down the most bizarre and troubling news to surface of late about the morally bankrupt environment many Ivy League schools was news of an upcoming party at Harvard University called “Incest-Fest,” succinctly and cleverly summarized by my colleague, The College Fix editor Nathan Harden:

“Incest-Fest is, essentially, a campus party where making out and hooking up with as many people as possible is the goal. It gets the “incest” name because the event is open only to residents of Kirkland house–one of Harvard’s undergraduate residences. Thus, students who are living together (as if they were members of the same family, get it?? Incest? So funny, right?) are having sex with one another.”

Need I say more?

2) Students at Azusa Pacific University who attempted to start a local chapter of the Young America’s Foundation (YAF)–a national group that mobilizes conservative students on college campuses–were told that YAF was “overly partisan” and would not be permitted on campus.

One would think that a Christian university, which hypothetically understands what it’s like to be demonized for its conservative beliefs, would be first in line to support these kids. It’s a bad sign when even a Christian university starts to kowtow to political correctness.

1) And finally, an analysis by The College Fix this week found that University of California Regents and trustees of the Cal State system — together responsible for overseeing more than 30 campuses and nearly 650,000 students — donate to Democrats rather than Republicans by a margin of more than 3 to 1.

But is this really a shock, considering the egregious examples of leftist political bias the boards have allowed to ferment in lecture halls and through a wide variety of campus policies? We’d like to say we are surprised by the results, but if we are honest with ourselves, they’re actually expected. That doesn’t mean it’s acceptable, however.
