Breaking Campus News. Launching Media Careers.
The College Fix debuts new website

Five years ago, The College Fix was an idea.

It was an idea sparked at a time when print newspaper was in decline and technology was on the rise. It was a concept centered on the notion that college students across America needed a centralized hub to showcase their work to a national audience and report on campus stories others ignored. It was a notion borne out of a desire to help foster careers in the media under the guidance of experienced editors. It was a demand necessitated by the fact that higher education often continues to provide more of an ideological education than an academic one.

On the latter point, these examples must first be highlighted if there is to be change, if a broken system is to be fixed. That is where we come in.

Today, roughly five years after an idea became a reality, The College Fix has become one of the leading daily news websites on higher education, offering stories consistently picked up by large national news outlets that prompt conversations about what and how the next generation is taught.

Our page views have skyrocketed since the early days. Our student author ranks continue to swell. We have provided dozens of journalism internships in leading Washington D.C. news outlets. We offer networking and support to recent grads. Many of our alumni work in prestigious news outlets today, such as: National Review, Associated Press, Wall Street Journal, Reason, Washington Free Beacon, Daily Caller and more – including many local print newspapers across the country.

Underscoring it all, we are having fun. It’s an honor, pleasure and privilege to serve as a support and lamppost to talented and driven young people with a passion for journalism and an enterprising spirit.

Today, as we debut our first massive website redesign since launching five years ago, we would like to thank our loyal readers, our hard-working students, our generous financial supporters, our talented editors over the years, and all the others who have played a role in helping The College Fix remain a vibrant, compelling and exciting contribution to the discussion of higher education today.
