New year, new president, same old wacky demands from Harvard activists

Harvard’s social justice warriors have shown that they don’t really have any new ideas in response to perceived challenges from a new president.

Instead, they are reissuing their greatest hits to the administration following Donald Trump’s inauguration.

The Harvard Crimson reports that a coalition of anti-fossil fuel, anti-due process, Muslim, Latino, union and immigration activists “rallied” in Harvard Yard Monday and demanded President Drew Faust “actively resist” Trump.

What do they want? Um, “Justice … Now”:

Each signatory group makes demands in the letter, including calls for an Ethnic Studies Department, protections and resources for Muslim students, additional support for undocumented students, and divestment from fossil fuel companies, among other demands. It concludes by asking Faust for “prompt, on-the-record meetings to discuss our collective vision.”

It’s not clear what Faust has denied these activists other than ethnic studies and divestment, as the Crimson notes: Harvard is giving undocumented students legal resources and Faust is lobbying for the Trump administration to continue the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.

And of course, Harvard imposed such a tilted and draconian sexual-assault investigation system that the law school refused to implement it, setting up its own system for adjudicating allegations.

And while Faust won’t designate Harvard a “sanctuary campus”:

The Harvard University Police Department has pledged not to inquire about Harvard students’ citizenship status or allow federal law enforcement officials to enter campus without a warrant.
