Kansas State environmental mascot revealed, mocked

by College Fix Staff on August 31, 2011

Kansas State’s new green mascot, EcoKat, sort of blew up on Twitter last night — but not in a good way.

A press release from K-State from earlier this month describes EcoKat as “Kansas State University’s crusader of conservation and fanatic of fluorescent lightbulbs.” Pictured at left, EcoKat received a less than warm reaction. Below are a few choice remarks from Twitter.

OMG! Please don’t tell me that the Midwest, the last bastion of conservatism, has sunk to THIS!!

Why do a handful of activist Lib nutjobs get to decide things for everyone else?

This is what higher education has come to. Be careful where you spend you hard earned money getting you child/grandchild their education. We are all watching now. We spent too much time not paying attention.

I attended three (THE 3?) top US universities and learned (among some other things) that these people should not be running the country. I have often said that the State Department and the CIA should hire more people who went to Kansas State and served in Iraq. And now we get this?! Is there no remaining citadel of basic common sense? Is the entire educational establishment in the grip of the adolescent Left? It would seem….

Looks like Eco-Terrorist….err, I mean Eco-Kat, needs to quit eating off Michelle Obama’s menu and hit the salad bar.

Apparently being an environmental hero requires 80′s hair a la “When Harry Met Sally”. You would think it would be the opposite, given all the product and blow drying involved.

Only one word necessary to convey the situation. “PATHETIC”.
