The Green Regulation Machine: Saving the planet or killing jobs?

Every time you regulate something like diesel particulates emitted by tractor trailers and buses, an angel loses its job and possibly tenure. Except, it’s not a joke.

Diesel particulates supposedly contribute to 2,000 premature deaths per year. So, the California Air Resources Board, part of the Calif. EPA, is imposing regulations on the particulates — despite evidence from a UCLA professor refuting that 2,000 premature deaths a year statistic.

Well, UCLA’s fired that professor.

And that’s where Reason comes in (and features our friends at FIRE) to tell the tale of shoddy science, conflicts of interest, and how California wants to make driving an 18-wheeler illegal. It’s long, but it’s good, y’all.
