Study: Wisconsin admissions discriminate against whites, Asians

A fight over affirmative action could blow up this week at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Two new studies released today by the Center for Equal Opportunity (CEO) claim Wisconsin and the University of Missouri discriminate based on race and ethnicity in the admissions process, and in doing so, discriminate against white and Asian students. The center periodically releases studies like this, including one earlier this year on The Ohio State University and Miami University.

Before the studies were released, however, university officials met with students Monday night to alert them of the impending release on Tuesday morning.

“These organizations put as their mission to systematically dial back the work gained from the civil rights era,” said Damon Williams, vice provost for diversity during the meeting.
