A lecturer at a New York university was arrested Monday for stealing Republican campaign signs from a front yard in a residential neighborhood.
As seen in a video posted to Twitter by the target of the theft, SUNY-New Paltz’s Laura Ebert slowly drives by the signs, pulls over (and onto the front yard of the adjacent house!), exits her truck and removes the signs.
An economics lecturer according to the university’s website, Ebert snatched signs endorsing GOP Representative John Faso and Marc Molinaro, the GOP candidate for governor.

Ebert was charged with misdemeanor larceny according to the police report. The report notes the officers on the scene were able to nab Ebert based on her truck’s license plate number upon viewing the video footage.
Ebert told police she was sorry for stealing, and then throwing away, the signs. She showed the officer who had transported her home where she had disposed of the signs, whereupon the officer retrieved them as evidence.
