Sheryl Swoopes is a WNBA Hall of Famer, Olympic gold medalist, one of the best to play the game.
She’s also a newly unemployed drama queen.
The Chicago Tribune reports that Loyola University Chicago fired Swoopes, who had never coached before, from its women’s basketball team after an outside investigation into her coaching style and treatment of players.

The investigation was sparked by “a rash of player transfers,” with several ex-Loyolans telling the Tribune that Swoopes “frequently” threatened them with the loss of their scholarships, “cried” during halftimes and practices, and during one practice, gave them the silent treatment:
Swoopes also shared with teammates personal information told to her in confidence, sources told the Tribune.

The ex-coach said last month, before the sanction was handed down, that “nothing” in her behavior “past or present … reflect anything other than structure, encouragement and respect for others.” She called the allegations against her “false attacks” on her character and coaching.
Her three-year record as a coach was 31-62, but the most recent season was her best yet, at 14-16.
