Former W&M professor gets 15 years of jail time on child porn charges

Former William & Mary professor Justin May received a sentence of a minimum of 15 years in federal prison for child pornography charges. May had taught economics at the school since 2007.

May plead guilty to the charges in U.S District Court, but still received the maximum minimum federal sentence; additionally, he was ordered to serve 10 years of probation after he is released.

“It is shocking that a college professor manipulated a young girl for his own sexual gratification,” said U.S Attorney Neil MacBride. “This case is a wake-up call to parents and kids alike that the face of evil is often the ordinary and the familiar, including people in positions of trust.”

May admitted to the court that he had coerced a 13-year-old Ohio girl to send him naked photographs of herself to him over the internet.  May met her on a modeling talent search website, under the alias “Nikki.” May told the girl that he could arrange to have professional photos taken of her in exchange for having sex with him.

According to his statements and court records, May promised to arrange “300 pictures of her for anal sex, or 75 pictures for oral sex.”

An earlier investigation by the Virginia Informer revealed an identical e-mail address matching Mr. May’s affadivit was found on a bestiality website.
