University of Nebraska-Lincoln Under Title IX Investigation For Assault Response

The Daily Nebraskan reports that the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is under Title IX investigation by the Department of Education, which an anonymous source said was based on a complaint filed in May.

The department’s Office for Civil Rights told the paper the investigation centers on whether the school “failed to promptly and equitably respond to complaints, reports, and/or incidents of sexual harassment and sexual violence of which it had notice, and as a result, students were subjected to a sexually hostile environment.”

Despite that alleged May complaint, the school “has yet to receive a formal complaint and therefore cannot comment on the matter,” a school spokesman told the paper.

News of the complaint follows a reported rape two weeks ago at the apartment of a former faculty member, whom the paper declined to name, again citing “an anonymous tip.”
