Professor took part in anti-Israel protest that caused $3M in damage
An anti-Israel professor who was previously arrested for participating in violent protests on campus will teach “Politics of the Middle East” at the City University of New York this upcoming fall semester.
Corinna Mullin is “also slated to teach ‘Government and Politics in the Middle East and North Africa’ at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, where she’ll talk about the Arab-Israeli conflict, political Islam, political Judaism, petro-politics and US foreign policy in the region,” the New York Post reported.
“The anti-West prof also teaches at The New School, where she’ll be lecturing on ‘Decolonizing International Law’ next fall,” the outlet reported.
CUNY law Professor Jeffrey Lax called her return to the classroom “outrageous and unacceptable.”
“This is not academic freedom — it is taxpayer-funded indoctrination,” he said.
“Mullin’s extreme anti-Israel, anti-American views, framed through an anticolonial lens that often justifies terrorism and hostility toward the West, make her fundamentally unfit to shape young minds on the sensitive subject of Middle East politics,” Lax said.
A Baruch College student also condemned the professor’s return to the classroom.
“Mullin’s statements are absurd and detached from reality,” Aidan Herzlinger said.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps aims to destroy the “United States and Israel because the regime’s ideology is anti-western and anti-democracy,” he said, adding that “professors like Mullin” create “a system of indoctrination, not education.”
The College Fix reached out to Professor Mullin for comment on these criticisms, but she has not responded.
Mullin was fired by CUNY in 2024 after leading a pro-Palestinian protest that caused $3 million in damage at the City College of New York’s Harlem campus, according to the New York Post.
A student fired a flare that landed on a campus building and caused severe damage.
However, the school reinstated her earlier this year following pushback, The College Fix previously reported.
During a Democratic Socialists of America meeting this month, the professor called for dismantling the U.S. empire.
She said that “a state like Iran needs to divert a significant portion of its surplus into military industrialization, so it can defend its workers.”
“So, I’m sorry, I defend the IRGC,” she said. “I defend the incredible role the Iranian state has done to defend the working class.”
She also said, “Iran has won this war. . . . its indigenous military industry has produced phenomenal results,” the NYP reported.
“This is having a huge toll on the capacity of the US empire to impose its will. . . . We need to bring the empire down by any means necessary,” Mullin said.
