The two attendees were pulled in at the last second by event organizers
Deval Patrick, the former governor of Massachusetts who recently announced a 2020 presidential bid, cancelled a campaign event at Morehouse College on Wednesday night after only two people showed up to it.
CNN reporter Annie Grayer posted on Twitter that Patrick “was supposed to have an event at Morehouse College [on Wednesday]. An organizer with the college who planned the event told CNN that Patrick cancelled the event when he arrived and learned that he would not have an audience.”
A picture posted by Grayer showed a starkly empty meeting space in which none of the approximately 100 chairs in the room had anyone seated in them.

Grayer noted that “two people came” to the event, though CNN later reported that those attendees “told CNN that organizers of the event asked them to attend as they were passing by in the hallway.”
On Wednesday night, ABC News reporter Cheyenne Haslett wrote on Twitter that the student-organizers of the event had had just 24 hours to plan it.
Upon arriving at the event and being told that his audience consisted entirely of just two people, Patrick cancelled it.
