A professor at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy was suspended yesterday after he made a joke about the Aurora Colorado movie theater shooting.
Gregory F. Sullivan was showing students a documentary when he said: “If someone with orange hair appears in the corner of the room, run for the exit.”
…The father of one of his students was among the 12 people killed in the July 20 shooting.
Sullivan later apologized for the remark, yet faced possible dismissal from his teaching job before the academy ultimately decided only to suspend him.
