UCLA may ask incoming freshmen if they are gay

The University of California, Los Angeles is floating the idea of asking incoming students to disclose their sexual orientation on a survey. Disclosure would be optional, according to the current proposal. According to The Huffington Post:

Some members of the Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual and Transgender (LGBT) community think that results from the question would show that their numbers are larger than the university realizes. They also hope that the numbers will help create more services for LGBT students.

One student told CBS that he wishes he could have talked to current LGBT UCLA students to get advice before entering as a freshmen.

Another student said that there should be a dorm floor for LGBT students, as there is for Latino, African American and science-interested students.
