OPINION: This approach seems better than most rage rooms frequented by women
Michigan State University students helped underwrite a “feminist rage room,” according to public records obtained exclusively by The College Fix.
The Women’s Council received $118.04 in student fees for its “feminist rage room.” The money went to coloring books, coloring pencils, paper plates, velcro, and candy.
Sparse details exist about the rage room, as the group’s Instagram only promotes the event with no other photos. The total amount for the April 2026 event is negligible, since the school distributed more than $330,000 in student fees during the most recent school year.
What is good is that this “rage room” does not appear to be like others, at least as evidenced by the purchases. As silly as it is, the event at least appears to only involve snacks and coloring as a way to destress.
Unfortunately, feminist academics have promoted the unscientific idea of catharsis, which underlies “rage rooms” and “screamscapes.” The idea is by smashing things or screaming things people can overcome their mental health problems.
Many women, liberals in particular, suffer from depression and anxiety, likely due to past abortions and the compounding effects of years of hormonal birth control.
Feminist scholar Sara Ahmed says screaming is an act of feminism and “antiracism,” for example. Professor Amber Moore argues for “feminist screamscapes” in a 2017 academic paper titled “Come scream with me: On feminist stories and screaming into the void.”
No wonder then that around 70 to 90 percent of rage room participants are women. After all, women are told that smashing vases and plates will help them overcome their mental problems. (And no wonder eight feminist women and two effeminate men let Lindsay Clancy go unpunished for killing her three children).
But like many academic theories, they do not work in the real world. Catharsis has been thoroughly debunked. Common sense proves this as well – anyone who has ever yelled at a child or broken things in anger can tell you their emotions and heart rate only go up, not down, afterwards.
“Although the ‘goal catharsis’ that is directed at attacking targets can temporarily relieve anger, there is a risk of increasing the tendency of aggressive personality if it is used for a long time,” one group of scholars concluded. A comprehensive review of studies on hitting sandbags or other forms of physical release leads one to the same conclusion.
Other activities may be better for releasing anger – indeed, coloring books could be the right approach. So could walks in nature, prayer, or exercise.
Feminists have a lot to be angry about, no doubt. Across the country, states are protecting the rights of innocent preborn children, meaning that women will no longer be able to kill their babies in the womb.
The driving cause of all feminists, first wave and onward, has been the destruction of the family, whether deliberately through drugs and knives, or culturally, through daycare and public education.
It’s one thing to be angry – just leave the china and vases alone, please.
