A national left-wing student organization is circulating a “toolkit” outlining strategies to disrupt and “smash” Turning Point USA chapters and their efforts on college campuses, according to a document reviewed by The College Fix.

The document, distributed by Students for a Democratic Society, lays out organizing tactics aimed at countering the conservative student group, which operates across hundreds of campuses nationwide.

“Introducing National Students for a Democratic Society’s toolkit for progressive student organizers: kick TPUSA off campus!” the national group posted on its Instagram profile April 21.

The toolkit itself is a 5-page document that includes a variety of tips and tricks that aim to help leftwing students achieve their goals to organize against TPUSA.

One suggestion is to “smash their charter,” encouraging members to work to get TPUSA deplatformed as a registered student organization, the document states.

“Whether the charter process goes through administration or student government (or some secret third thing), disrupting the process looks like agitating those who make the decisions, raising the consciousness on campus about the issue, and disseminating propaganda across campus,” the blueprint states.

The blueprint remains restricted, preventing access to its edit history or the identity of its owner. The national SDS organization did not respond to The College Fix’s request for comment via Instagram.

According to the Google document, its authors attend a “small private Catholic university” in the deep south, with a “majority gender oppressed and ethnically majority-minority” student body.

While the university is not named, the document references multiple SDS chapters, including one affiliated with Loyola University New Orleans.

The toolkit states that the Loyola chapter operates off-campus and advises activists to carefully manage “recruitment, meeting with students, and propaganda” to avoid administrative scrutiny.

The document encourages SDS members to “make friends with [their] student government to get the inside scoop,” including building relationships with student senators and representatives.

The document frames opposition to TPUSA as broadly popular, stating that people “hate TPUSA and will love you for fighting back against them.”

The toolkit clarified against demanding a “ban” on the conservative group, because that could backfire on progressive student groups. It primarily focuses on protest tactics.

“As soon as you hear about an event put out a flyer for your counterprotest,” the toolkit states, adding that SDS should join forces with other like-minded groups and post fliers, table, “and get the word out about your event.”

The type of protest advised is “direct action,” according to the blueprint.

“This can look like infiltrating events and disrupting them, rallying outside to drown them out, petitions to show that students largely do not want TPUSA on campus, write op-eds to your campus newspaper describing the negative impacts of a TPUSA chapter, etc,” the document states.

The toolkit includes case studies from campuses such as Florida State University and the University of Illinois Chicago, describing what it calls “successful” efforts to weaken TPUSA chapters.

At Utah Valley University, The Cougar Chronicle, a center-right student publication, reported that the university’s SDS chapter “demonstrated willingness to follow these instructions from the national organization and are just as extreme in their rhetoric.”

In April 2026, TPUSA at Utah Valley University — where Charlie Kirk was assassinated – organized a fundraiser with a local Dave’s Hot Chicken, which pledged 20 percent of all purchases to the chapter.

According to The Chronicle, SDS members later “participated in a coordinated attempt to undermine the fundraising efforts,” including “targeting and harassing a local Dave’s Hot Chicken restaurant.”

The newspaper added that the SDS chapter “organized protests against the proposal of a Charlie Kirk Memorial on campus” in October 2025.

The UVU TPUSA chapter did not respond to The College Fix’s request for comment via email. The UVU SDS chapter did not respond to The College Fix’s request for comment via Instagram.

Similar tactics reported at other campuses

The document also describes similar efforts to counter TPUSA efforts at universities nationwide.

It states that the SDS chapter at Florida State University organized a protest when Charlie Kirk previously spoke on campus as part of a tour.

At the University of Illinois Chicago, SDS members organized a counter-protest in partnership with socialist organizations against a TPUSA event featuring Pastor Lucas Miles.

At the University of Washington, SDS aided in helping to shut down a TPUSA event which was scheduled for May 13 featuring Chloe Cole, labeling the TPUSA chapter a “Nazi hate group.” The event was postponed due to safety concerns and threats of violence.

The blueprint also advises student activists to flag TPUSA’s Campus Victory Project as a way to disrupt the group on campus. At least two student government officials have faced recall efforts this school year after to attending the project’s conferences.
