This SHOCKING news comes by way of Campus Reform, which reports that a Metropolitan State University professor forced his students to recite a satirical version of the Pledge of Allegiance that defames Republicans and conservatives and accuses this country of racism and sexism:
Dr. Charles Angeletti, a self-proclaimed atheist and socialist professor of American Civilization at the publicly funded Denver university, required students recite the satirical Pledge of Allegiance during the fall 2014 semester according to a class flier obtained by Campus Reform.
“I pledge allegiance to and wrap myself in the flag of the United States
Against Anything Un-American and to the Republicans for which it stands,
two nations, under Jesus, rich against poor, with curtailed liberty and
justice for all except blacks, homosexuals, women who want abortions,
Communists, welfare queens, treehuggers, feminazis, illegal immigrants,
children of illegal immigrants, and you if you don’t watch your step.”
The flier was distributed to the entire class and students were required to recite it according to Steven Farr, an MSU freshman majoring in Meteorology. According to Farr, Professor Angeletti’s course offered no alternative political perspective and aggressively repressed debate among classmates. Farr noted that fellow students were suspicious of the professor’s motives, but few had the courage to openly protest the controversial pledge.
This professor exemplifies the very worst of higher education today. Thank goodness for brave students like Farr who are willing to expose this attempt at brainwashing.
I consider this a personal violation of these students’ rights and consciences, as well as blatant indoctrination. Professor Angeletti can take his pledge and stick it where the sun don’t shine.
Here is a link to the MSU board of trustees, the people responsible for overseeing this university. If you have time, please zip them an email and let them know what you think of Professor Angeletti’s teaching tactics. It’s a good thing for them that their personal emails are not listed on the campus website, but there is a general contact form you can fill out. And here is the contact form to send a note to campus President Stephen Jordan.
This “pledge” isn’t education. This is an old, angry commie spewing vitriol on his class. This university should not allow Angeletti to force this upon students again.
