A female University of Michigan student attacked a Jewish conservative activist on Sunday in a filmed altercation that quickly went viral, surpassing 6.6 million views by Sunday night.
Liz Benichou, who describes herself as a “proud Jewish woman” on her X profile, can be seen being shoved by a backpack-wearing co-ed with a large septum nose ring who was apparently set off when Benichou asked her what would happen to her if she wore that outfit in Iran.
The video shows the unidentified student drop her cell phone then forcibly shove Benichou to the ground, trying to kick her before she is restrained by an onlooker and then tackled by a campus police officer.
The attacker then resists arrest as a police office tries to handcuff her. She shouts “I should have fucking killed you when I had the fucking chance” as she is ushered into a squad car and continues to scream at nearby observers, the video shows.
“JUST NOW: Deranged Abdul Supporter tackled a Jewish girl (@basedinmalibu) at free speech event,” wrote Cam Higby on X, where he posted the video.
The Daily Mail reports that University of Michigan police identified the attacker as a student and said they had been responding to an unpermitted event on campus.
“As the group was packing up to leave, officers witnessed a University of Michigan student assault a woman not affiliated with the university,” campus police said. “The student was taken into custody, processed and released pending warrant authorization.”
The incident first began after the student approached an “Is Islam Compatible with the West?” tabling, “clapping directly in one of the men’s faces, causing him to recoil and put his hand to his face,” the Daily Mail reported:
‘This is f***ing stupid, bro,’ she said in the video, before pestering the man about whether he had a permit to be on campus while he tried to end the conversation.
He could then be seen turning to a campus police officer off-camera, informing the cop that she smacked him – which she promptly denies even as others inform her they have the entire incident on camera.
‘But I have several f***ing eyewitnesses, I didn’t do f***ing s**t,’ the student insists, saying that the right-wing activist was ‘victimizing himself as a fully-grown man.’
Soon, the woman starts railing against ‘anti-Muslim people here who want to say I put a f***ing hand on him, bro.
Benichou’s manager Taylor Sharp, the CEO of Liberty Under Fire USA, a conservative youth organization, told Mediaite that Benichou injured her lower back when she was pushed to the ground and plans on pressing charges against the arrested student.
Benichou posted on X on Sunday: “I’m okay. This is what happens when you dealing with leftist radicals. THE LEFT IS MORE VIOLENT THAN THE RIGHT!”
