William McGurn on why he became a journalist

At the SFPA, we have a board of mentors who are pretty top notch. Editor Robby Soave’s been hard at work editing video interviews with some of our mentors, featuring their stories about how they got into journalism and the advice they have for young journalists.

First up? William McGurn, a vice president at News Corporation, where he writes speeches for Rupert Murdoch. He is formerly chief speechwriter for President George W. Bush and chief editorial writer for the Wall Street Journal, where he currently writes a weekly column.
