Outrageously Dumb Campus Moments of the Week (Sept. 14)

The College Fix presents a roundup of the top scandals, screw-ups and stupid decisions involving college campuses. This week, class topics that range from demonic possession to cross-dressing pepper universities’ course catalogs, and more questions and accusations about Obama’s time on college campuses abound. But first …

3) Campus Reform reported this week that the University of Minnesota – Duluth will pay transsexual activist Loren Cameron an honorarium of $4,000 for his presentation “Transgender Images,” which features graphic images meant to “demystify” transsexual bodies.

“Cameron’s website, which also displays explicit images, says the purpose of his photography is to “provide an affirming visual resource for transgendered people and to demystify the transsexual body for the non-transgendered viewer. … University officials refused to comment on how the presentation is educational to the student body or provide further details on the event.”

That’s because there is no educational value to the display, of course. It’s just another taxpayer-subsidized, bizarre and questionable exhibition put forth under the guise of higher education.

2) Speaking of extreme subjects that pass for legitimate studies, college campuses across the nation this semester have been sure to offer their students a wide range of options  — unless they’re looking for conservative topics, that is. The College Fix reported this week on some of the more colorful choices this fall, including courses on demonic possession, “queer time” literature, anti-Capitalist screeds, the Black Power movement, a history of cross-dressing, and unfettered human desire.

1) What do we really know about Obama’s past? Putting aside his Kenyan roots, is anything on his resume trustworthy? Obama refuses to release his college transcripts, and at least one former prominent Columbia University classmate makes a strong accusation that they likely contain some kind of damaging information. Now comes word this week that the claim Obama was offered tenure at the University of Chicago Law School is false. Charles C. Johnson reported that the law school did not offer Obama a tenured position.

“A longtime professor and one-time dean of the University of Chicago Law School told The Daily Caller that Barack Obama was never offered tenure, despite the assertions of a New York Times reporter who covers the president and the first family.”

Forget Mitt Romney’s tax returns. Will someone please vet Obama’s entire life?
