Students for Justice in Palestine plans ‘Day of Resistance’ celebrating anti-Israel violence

The group celebrated Hamas’s attacks as ‘disrupt[ing] the very foundation of Zionist settler society’

The national leadership of a far-left, pro-Palestinian activists’ group will host this Thursday a “Day of Resistance” for campus chapters in support of violence against Israel.

“National Students for Justice in Palestine announced the ‘international’ campaign on Monday and celebrated Hamas’s attacks ‘which disrupted the very foundation of Zionist settler society,” according to the The Washington Free Beacon, citing an internal document.

That document, a “Day of Resistance Toolkit,” called the Hamas invasion “a historic win for the Palestinian resistance,” according to The Free Beacon.

The Anti-Defamation League detailed upcoming SJP events in a Monday blog post.

“SJP is planning a National Day of Resistance for its campus chapters for October 12, and at least six SJP chapters have announced campus events on that date, including: Arizona State University, University of Arizona, Butler University, University of Louisville, University of Binghamton and the University of Virginia,” the ADL wrote.

“In the days following Hamas’s October 7, 2023, invasion of Israel, the national leadership of Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) and many of the organization’s campus chapters have explicitly endorsed the actions of Hamas and their armed attacks on Israeli civilians and voiced an increasingly radical call for confronting and ‘dismantling’ Zionism on U.S. college campuses,” according to the ADL.

At least two other chapters, at Michigan State University and University of Mary Washington, are scheduling events off-campus.

“Students for Justice in Palestine…is a network of pro-Palestinian student groups across the US which disseminate anti-Israel propaganda often laced with inflammatory and at times combative rhetoric,” according to the ADL.

The George Washington University Students for Justice in Palestine issued a statement in support of “the right to resist,” posted Tuesday to X by O.C. Register columnist and GW Law alumna Tahmineh Dehbozorgi.

“Decolonialization…is a tangible, material event in which the colonized rise up against the colonizer and reclaim control of our own lives,” GW Students for Justice in Palestine wrote in the statement.

“It is the culmination of our people’s undying will towards liberation,” the group continued.

Columbia University’s SJP chapter describes the national group as “organizing around human rights for Palestinians. It follows the Palestinian Civil Society call for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions of Israel.”
